SCLF 2015 Annual Conference

Andrew, Phil and Ross recently attended the Scottish Contaminated Land Forum (SCLF) Annual Conference at Strathclyde University. There was a good turn-out from all aspects of the brownfield investigation and remediation industry, with some speakers travelling from the furthest corners of the UK. There was some good debate on ensuring the quality of investigation, assessment and decision making, and the speaker presentations were both excellent and thought provoking.

The other subjects included an overview of the proposed accreditation scheme for brownfield risk assessment professionals that is being developed by SoBRA, ground gas updates and verification of gas protection membranes, and two-dimensional gas chromatography analysis of hydrocarbons. This technique is really useful for identifying and quantifying unknown contaminants in a hydrocarbon mix.

The next SCLF event will be the quarterly forum meeting and AGM, at the end of November. For more information, please visit SCLF’s website.
