Waste Management and Classification

Cutting costs through waste minimisation and waste-to-resource management

Site owners and operators must ensure that construction waste, excess soil and contaminated soil is sorted, tested and classified in accordance with Technical Guidance WM2. Where there is a requirement for disposal, this includes the new Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) tests for inert and hazardous waste.

Developers must also ensure that sites are registered with SEPA or the Environment Agency and in England and Wales that a site waste management plan (SWMP) is in place.

ERS provides a complete on-site and off-site waste testing, classification and segregation service to ensure that your project complies fully with the latest regulations.  We also evaluate the options available for treatment, retention and reuse of segregated wastes before considering waste classification for disposal, minimising your landfill tax liability.

Where off-site disposal is unavoidable, ERS may be able to further reduce costs by undertaking additional remedial treatment prior to disposal at one of our licensed soil treatment centres.
