Hydrogeological Testing

Detailed assessment of groundwater conditions in support of site regeneration.

ERS hydrogeologists investigate groundwater quantity and quality to help identify sources of potential contamination and provide clients with accurate data for risk assessment.

We can provide either factual or interpretive reports, as required.

Hydrogeological studies can be undertaken as stand-alone projects or to support contaminated land redevelopment, environmental impact assessments and ecological studies.

Where further groundwater treatment is required, our multi-disciplinary project teams select the most appropriate system for your site.

Aquifer Testing

ERS is experienced in the design and implementation of a comprehensive range of tests to determine the hydraulic properties of an aquifer or confining bed. The information gained is applied to predict water yield, to investigate risks to groundwater and for improved design of remediation and dewatering systems.

Groundwater and contaminant transport modelling

The use of groundwater and contaminant transport models (e.g. MODFLOW, MT3D & RT3D) enables a fully risk-based approach to be taken, avoiding the need to apply an unnecessarily conservative ’worst-case’ scenario. The 3-D visual representation also acts as a powerful tool when communicating with clients, regulators and the public.

Design and operation of groundwater remediation systems

ERS designs and manages groundwater remediation systems for the treatment of hydrocarbons including petroleum and fuel oils, volatile organics, halogenated compounds and for inorganic contaminants such as chromium.
