ERS engineers use a variety of chemical techniques to remediate soil and groundwater. These techniques either remove risk by chemically degrading hazardous substances or achieve stabilisation of the contaminant within the bulk matrix, breaking pollutant linkages.
Petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and other difficult to remediate organics can be degraded using oxidation chemistry.
Chemical reduction is particularly suited to degradation of chlorinated solvents and detoxification of certain inorganics, including Chromium VI.
This technique involves addition of stabilising compounds and modification of soil physical-chemical properties to bind and immobilise contaminants.
Chemical oxidation, reduction and stabilisation of contaminated soil can be undertaken either on site or at one of our soil treatment centres.
We have experience in the design and operation of above-ground water treatment plant for the chemical treatment of a variety of organic and inorganic contaminants.
