VACANCY: July 2019
GRADUATE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER
Ref: 04-0719

 

Who we’re looking for…
ERS is currently looking for a Graduate Environmental Engineer (or similar) to work full time on a 6-month project testing treatment process(es) to remove both large litter items and smaller plastic fragments from seaweed washed up on beaches.

The project will involve laboratory and pilot scale testing equipment developed for other industries (e.g. materials recycling) to assess feasibility of seaweed cleaning technologies in a cost-effective manner.

Outlets for the cleaned seaweed will also be explored.

At the end of the project we expect to have better understanding of the system requirements to clean beached seaweed and a full understanding of the direct market and product development opportunities for mixed cleaned seaweed.

Our ideal candidate will have:

Your Qualifications:
Minimum BEng in an Engineering subject or comparable experience

Essential Requirements:
• Full clean driving licence
• IT literacy (MS packages)
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Eligibility to work in the UK

Your Personality

• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills both with colleagues and external  stakeholders

The Role Involves…

• Travel to one or more beaches in Scotland to survey sites and collect samples for   testing
• Laboratory and pilot testing work at ERS’ head office in Glasgow
• Occasional trips within Scotland and England for external pilot trial testing and   stakeholder engagement
• Completion of project reports

The successful applicant will be based in our Glasgow office.

JUNIOR QUANITITY SURVEYOR / ESTIMATOR

Our ideal candidate will have:

Degree in a civil engineering / quantity surveying subject or comparable experience

Essential Requirements:
• Full clean driving licence
• IT literacy (MS packages)
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Eligibility to work in the UK

Your Personality

• Excellent problem-solving skills

The Role Involves…

• Assisting in preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
• Ensuring documented approval of all tender and contract documents before issue
• Assisting in dealing with variations from form of contract and contractual issues
• Reviewing both successful and unsuccessful bids to determine any lessons to be   learned, including conducting formal reviews when appropriate
• Assisting in sub-contract procurement, ensuring maximum value for money
• Review of current estimating templates and terms and conditions

Location…
The successful applicant will be based in our Glasgow office.
