Close working between ERS and Interlink M74 JV results in an efficient, high quality ground investigation, completed on time and within budget.
Glasgow is the location of the much publicised construction of a £500 million, 8.5km section of motorway linking the existing M74 to the M8. The new route passes through many former industrial areas, much of which is affected by a variety of contaminants, most notably chromate.
To complete their understanding of potential contamination problems, Interlink M74 JV required a major ground investigation to be undertaken and ERS was delighted to win the contract for a 4.5km section of the route.
Our project team recognised that an alternative approach to gathering information from this site could solve many of the problems associated with traditional techniques.
Using state-of-the-art sonic-rotary rigs in multiple simultaneous configuration, ERS is proud to have achieved completion of over one hundred boreholes on time and within budget.
High-quality environmental and geotechnical samples were collected using an approach that minimised drilling impact on the environment and avoided the uncontrolled discharge of drilling wastes.
