We’re receiving a growing number of calls from clients who are struggling to get mortgages or sell their homes due to the presence of Japanese knotweed on their property.
Japanese knotweed (JK) is an exceptionally aggressive invasive plant, capable of weakening concrete, tarmac, brick walls and foundations. Left untreated, JK can cause serious structural damage, proliferate rapidly, and create a legal liability that is now making many mortgage lenders increasingly reluctant to lend on properties where JK is present. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and perhaps our understanding of it's destructive properties influences our opinion, but rapid JK grwoth can also very quickly destroy the aesthetic properties of your garden or property.
If your property is infested with knotweed, immediate action is required to halt the spread and prevent further damage. ERS works with our clients in numerous ways:
- Identify and confirm the presence and spread of JK on and around your property
- Provide guidance on the costs and timescales for removal methods
- Develop and deliver a JK removal/management programme
- Provide guarantees and monitoring of all programmes where required
Our team of Invasive Weed Removal Specialists are always happy to help – feel free to call Iain Mackay on 0141 227 2789 or email him at iain@ersremediation.com
